100,000 children impacted with VidaNyx
a letter from sara boyd, ceo
It’s so surreal that as we sit here during Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, VidaNyx is marking the milestone of having supported teams to accelerate justice and healing for 100,000 children. Each and every one of these children has a story to tell, containing some of the darkest moments of their life. They share this in confidence with heroic professionals who are there to provide pathways to safety, justice, and healing. As a purpose-driven company, VidaNyx has the honor and responsibility of keeping these stories safe and secure.
Our “why” in doing this work is because far too often children have had their most vulnerable truths exposed in ways that have led to mistrials, delayed justice, furthered traumatization, and in the worst stories we hear, even led to a loss of human life. We believe that every child and family deserves peace of mind that the truths they share are safe. VidaNyx is proud to enable child advocacy teams with a means to share child forensic interview evidence swiftly and securely in their pursuit of justice and healing. Our ‘why’ is the human right to live a full, happy life free from preventable horrors created unnecessarily by gaps in evidence processes.
For VidaNyx, the hunger to protect young lives has grown into an expanded appetite to accelerate speed to justice and access to healing for millions of people of all ages. We are furthering our work to also directly serve legal professionals fighting for justice. And while what we do is expanding, our ‘why’ stays constant – so that children remain at the heart of it all.
my personal why
As a mother of three children, I try to fathom what it would be like to know my children’s worst experiences were exposed to unwanted individuals. When nothing has been lost, it’s convenient to perceive this risk is negligible. But I know from our work with hundreds of child advocacy centers across the country this happens – gut check – regularly. And no child should ever have to be the example of “what went wrong” that leads to a change in best practices. This is my ‘why’.
Last year we established a pledge to protect survivor stories. Hundreds of incredible professionals in various disciplines – CACs, law enforcement, medical professionals, prosecutors and more – have made this pledge. This demonstrates for us that VidaNyx is aligned with the people and teams we support and that we are all called to serve in ways that are simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking.
share your why
Now we’d love to ask each of you, “What is your ‘why’?” No matter your discipline, whether forensic interviewer, CAC staff member, prosecutor, law enforcement, medical provider – I’m inviting you to share why you are called to serve, why you do what you do, why – in spite of all of the difficulties and risks – you show up day in and day out to face those challenges head on.
We each have a “why” of our own, and we hope you will share it with us and the VidaNyx community. You inspire us on a daily basis and we want to share that inspiration with others as we seek to provide energy that lights the path forward for us all. Simply upload a video sharing your ‘why’ or use the form to type it and upload your photo.
